A funny but also melancholy piece of work. It’s more interested in maintaining a consistent and sincere emotional connection than in wild virtuoso showboating.

Two-time lottery winner, the eccentric Charles, is finally able to make his dream a reality. He invites his favourite band, indie folk duo Herb and Nell, to his remote Welsh island home for a private concert to honour his late beloved wife. Unfortunately, the duo broke up years ago, and the reason soon becomes obvious as one-time bandmates and lovers are thrown together. Past angst and grievances resurface to threaten superfan Charles’ dream gig. Based on a 2007 short film by UK comedic writers Tim Key and Tom Basden, who both star in this poignant comedy. Directed by James Griffiths, the film explores the power of music to reignite passion and heal from loss. Carey Mulligan and Tom Basden add an authentic touch by playing and singing Basden’s original music.
