It’s almost as if the trajectory of Martin Scorsese’s career was leading up to this film, but I don’t think I was expecting “Killers Of The Flower moon” to leave me this moved as this very well could be the best film he’s ever directed and his actual MASTERPIECE.

One of the stand-out films of 2023, Scorsese’s most recent feature film is set in 1920s Oklahoma. The Osage Nation had been pushed off their land to this presumed wasteland, but their fortunes change dramatically with the discovery of oil. This results in a (black) gold rush attracting those who would like to cash in on their fortune, in particular, the machiavellian cattle rancher William Hale (Robert De Niro). When his dull-witted nephew Ernest (Leonardo Di Capprio) appears, he senses his opportunity, encouraging a union between him and an Osage landowner Mollie (Lily Gladstone).
Developed in collaboration with the Osage Nation, the film depicts how not just the land and its resources were pillaged from the Native American people, but the culture and their stories as well.
