Lou, an Australian actor struggling with career and personal problems in Hollywood, is called home by her father who is terminally ill. Needing an escape from her current problems, she returns home to Kangaroo Island, her father, her sister Freya, and her husband (Lou’s old boyfriend). While trying to patch up her difficult relationship with Freya, a family secret is revealed. Lou finds herself having to deal with family feuds, a love triangle, a land grab by a religious group Freya is involved with, tragic deaths, and euthanasia. The cinematography makes the most of the visually beautiful backdrop of Kangaroo Island, resulting in a film experience that grabs all our senses and emotions.
